2008 Recipient: Consuelo Consuelo was nominated by her employer who wrote about Consuelo’s daily and lifelong obstacles. Consuelo is a generous and selfless individual who has spent her entire life caring for others; always placing other’s needs before hers. She works daily to provide for herself and her physically challenged son. Her commitment to her immediate and extended family is one to admire. I am proud to have had the opportunity to meet her and to provide her with improved function as well as the smile she has always wanted. Consuelo suffered from multiple chronic infections and active abscesses. Chewing was painful and difficult. Her nutrition was poor due to her inability to chew food properly. Proper digestion was also inadequate and had significant effects on her overall health. Her new smile provided her with the ability to chew with back molars for the first time in 20 years. In addition, it allowed her to regain a new sense of youth and confidence clearly visible in her after photo. Congratulations, Consuelo!
