Dr. Sandra Reyes – Family Dentist

We value our patients and community. Because of this, we are active participants in various community outreach programs near Mesa, Arizona. On this page, you can find out more information about these programs to understand why so many patients visit Dr. Reyes for high quality dental care.

Friends of the Needy Charitable Dentistry:  In October 2010, Dr. Reyes has made a commitment to St. Anne Catholic Church's Friends of the Needy program, to provide limited dental treatment the underserved in our community.  We have already begun serving this community and look forward to continue doing so at the request of the Church and their administrators as they deem necessary.

A New Beginning Charitable Dentistry:  Since our initial publishing of Robert's story (our 2006 New Beginnings Recipient) in our office newsletter, we have had interest to our New Beginnings column.  In response, we had created a charity program which will allow one individual to receive treatment they may otherwise not be able to receive.    I am excited about the positive response this program has received  from individuals.  It has allowed me to give back in a very special way.  My reward for being a part of it has been to see the significant changes it has brought to these individuals.  To read about our 2008 recipient click on any of the images below.

Unfortunately, due to the high demand and significant need for these charitable services, our small office has found it necessary to seek the aid from third parties such as the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Arizona Dental Association and other charitable foundations to aid in filtering through our ever increasing number of applicants.  These associations have developed and created great programs which help a wide range of individuals including domestic abuse victims, underserved children age 6 – 12 and physically challenged individuals due to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, trauma and congenital abnormalities.  These parties will pre-screen individuals prior to being seen in our office and submission of applications for these programs can be made through their websites. See below for a list of organizations

National Children's Dental Month Presentations:  In February of 2009 and 2010, Dr. Reyes and staff visited the Pre-K and K children at St. Anne's Little Flower Montessori School and A Simple Path Montessori, respectively to teach the children the importance of oral health.  Each classroom was given an age appropriate presentation teaching them the importance, function and maintenance of their teeth.  The kids were excited and loved the goody bags dispensed to them.

Oral Hygiene Instruction to Nursing Home Caregivers:  In 2008, approximately 12 nursing home caregivers were invited to our office for a 1 hour presentation on how to care for the elderly, specifically Alzheimer's and Dementia patients.  Specific scenarios and problems were discussed as they relate to provide direct care to their clients.  With a generous donation from Oral B, electrical toothbrushes, full-sized Crest toothpastes, denture brushes and other goodies were provided to over 70 nursing home residents for their personal use.

Toothprints (Ongoing): Toothprints were developed by a pediatric dentist who began using dental bite impressions as a way of safeguarding his own child, and other young patients. The thermoplastic wafer records the size and shape of a child’s teeth, tooth position within the arch and the relationship between the upper and lower jaws. Like fingerprints, dental imprints are unique to every person so bite impressions serve as an accurate method of identification. Not even twins have the same bite characteristics. A Toothprint captures saliva, which is a powerful source of human scent, thus making the wafer effective for scent-dog tracking. The saliva also provides a DNA sample.

Our office is proud to be a local provider of the Toothprints technology. We offer Toothprints to all of our patients under the age of 18, free of charge with their initial visit and intermittently thereafter, as their dentition changes. In addition a personal ID Kit is included for completion at home.  We have also provided free Toothprints at events for the City of Scottsdale and the City of Mesa. To-date we have safeguarded over 300 young children and are proud to continue this effort.

Healthcare Fights Hunger (Sept. 2008):  During the month of September, we will be accepting cash donations which will benefit local food banks in their efforts to provide for our community's neediest individuals.  Please join us in this effort.  Thank you for your  support!

Prayer and Reflection Arbor (October 2007): Our office recently made a financial contribution towards the  development of a Reflection Arbor for St. Anne’s Catholic  Community. It has been build off of Greenfield Road and the  I-60 freeway as a community project  by a local Eagle Scout.  We are excited to have been a  part of this very special project.
